Meet the author behind the books

In 2021, I took a wonderful trip with Anneke Joris. We are both huge animal lovers, and dogs, in particular, touch our hearts. We traveled throughout Spain, learned about the many facets of hunting, and were introduced to many hunting dogs, primarily galgos and podencos.
During this trip, the urge to write a book arose. Over the next few years, the chapters formed in my mind, and in 2025, it was time to pick up the pen and put the story to paper.
I wrote a book out of hope. The hope that a little boy like Mateo will arise in Spain and cause a ripple that would grow into a tidal wave. A tidal wave of change, in legislation but especially in behavior, that would make the abuse of Spanish hunting dogs a thing of the past. It’s a story about family ties, animal love, and traditions—and about how a young generation, with courage, strength, and perseverance, is trying to transform age-old customs into the 21st century.
I hope my modest contribution can make a difference! It won’t be up to me; all proceeds will be donated to good animal causes!
